Right off the bat I’ve noticed that the art was better. Even with such a large art team too which surprised me when I noticed how many were involved. The book just looked better, the bodies better proportioned and some very nice detail work to boot. This is why I stick around so that I can experience the growing pains and watch them settle down into something rather special.
Another blast from the past is the cover image actually appears inside the book! How novel an idea is it that the cover should have that kind of connection to the story inside. Now as for the archeologist and all the military personnel, from all branches. I love that you all are taking a page out of the Discovery Channel! Using the old texts and theories that aliens with advanced technology visited the planet made me one happy camper. I love those shows and for you to use them as you have, even incorporating the real pictures of South American charms that look like planes was amazing to see.
The Air Force General sees the saucer and tries to commandeer the site making a military operation instead of a scientific one. Just like a branch of the military trying to bully the little guy and take things that don’t belong to them in the name of National Security, it’s an old tale that unfortunately is all too real. Meanwhile Mark is fighting his arch nemesis and learning he wasn’t the one who sabotaged the experiment that created him. As that mystery deepens and what unfolds on the dig in the past continue the shift in power will continue. This is well written, the characters are very well done and the plotting and pacing are excellent. This is a gem of a find if you like super-heroes with an old school feel to them, by that I mean not so brooding, dark and violent.
On the flip side the Blue Sultan seems to have gone mad in his search. Wow talk about absolute power corrupting absolutely. This is kind of fun though and the art is great as well. I wish it were a normal back-up not a flip book but hey it’s a great compliment to the main story and a wonderful introduction to a great nasty villain.
