So, here it is, also with part of my reaction to when I uploaded it to MySpace (yes, MySpace) and Facebook:
This was the first ever review Warlord had =3 Th review blog where it was written is no longer with us, but I was able to save the review since it was the first one written =D That blog was BRUTAL, so I was expecting Warlord to be torn to shreds (especially since at the time of the review, chapter 2 was uploading, and to this day, I'm still convinced that at least art-wise, chapter 2 was atrocious). What was the verdict? Read on!:
"Ah, a Sunset Beach Comic. I knew there would be a day when soap operas will leap into the colorful pages of the paper back. But this one thankfully isn't as bad as Sunset Beach.
The comic ain't all talky, talky though. However, you will have to get through a lot of dialogue before seeing any action. The characters in the comic are interesting and varied. A lot of folks with 'mind issues' is the best way of putting it. It's definitely a strong point of this comic.
We have Fred Peterson who is having some woman trouble. He is wrestling over the girl he fancies and there is that bit of tug of war. Enter the 'hero', where Fred takes on the persona of The Warlord. Can I say that eventhough the costume looks like Spidey's, it's still a cool outfit.
The story is like your everyday hero story with a bit more character depth and a focus on the relationships with Fred and the other characters. The story can get slow at times and can drag on in places. It could have done without a few panels just to keep thing running smooth.
What Webcomic World will be doing is revisiting comics if not much has been done in the story. This could yet be comic to be revisited. At the moment though, it's something that was given much care. The art is solid and colourful and while the story ain't that complex, there is some drama there to be attracted towards.
Final Comment: Well, a comic that tries to tackle the soap opera with a traditional hero in the mix. A solid comic with potential of being fan-favourite. Needs to get some much needed energy so it does not delve into sombre territory."
What was interesting from this review, Warlord was actually one of the highest rated webcomics reviewed there, and what shocked me was the 8 (out of 10) in artwork XD Only a small handful had gotten to 8 (I don't think a 10 was ever given, I think like 9 or 8.5 was as high a comic got). There you had it! My first ever review =) Remember you can read chapter 20 in it's entirety here on this very site, and soon chapter 21 will begin! Thank you all so much for the support =D~Alvaro "Lance Danger" Cortes Ortiz Jr
