This podcast is MOST DEFINITELY NOT for the kiddies! There's some adult language as well as adult jokes so, if you don't mind listening to comic news, interviews or comic book reviews and have a few adult theme jokes in the middle, then this is the podcast for you. The show usually has guest hosts and it's always a very relaxing and funny atmosphere. Of all the podcasts I listen to on a regular basis, No Apologies is the one I've listened to the least, simply because I didn't knew about it or didn't stumble into it. But, now that I've discovered it, I'm enjoying it more and more every time I tune in.
Comic Book Cast is a podcast aimed at older teens and adults. The guys give reviews and news from a young adult perspective that's refreshing to say the least. Their reviews are smart and if they don't like a specific book, movie or anything else, they'll let us know without any sugar coating; it is what it is. There's adult language and themes so again, not for the kiddies.
One thing that this podcast does that the other podcasts I listen to don't is that they post video reviews on a weekly basis in which they focus on any particular topic that they feel deserves the spotlight. This podcast has quickly become one of my favorites and never fails to make me smile and sometimes even laugh out loud. Good movie and comics reviews, no B.S. commentary, uncensored and funny = SOLD!
Comic Book Showdown is a weekly podcast in which the hosts discuss newly released comic books and everything to do with DC, Marvel, Image and all indie publishers. There are monthly contests and cool interviews with comic book creators. There's adult language but not overly vulgar. The hosts are very smart individuals and their reviews are second to none. The chemistry between the cast members is unique and the listener can sense that they, the hosts, enjoy being around each other and truly love comics.
One thing that this podcast has that makes it a little better than the rest in my opinion, is the various views and/or tastes of the hosts, and most importantly; a female point of view! "The Killer" Johnny K likes to review All Ages and young adult titles, which give parents an idea of what books to pick up for their kids; great job Johnny K! Judy gives a female perspective on everything from comics, movies and the industry in general, and not in a "cliche" type of way, but in a very intelligent manner. Captain Paul and Darin balance the group with a mixture of manly titles and other genres of books that Judy and/or Johnny aren't into. For those reasons and many more, Comic Book Showdown is my favorite comics podcast and I'll continue to listen until they stop recording, which I'm hoping won't be anytime soon.
