Here's what happened, just days before The Dark Knight Rises opens a few critics that have given either less than satisfactory or average reviews to the latest installment of Nolan's Batman trilogy are facing a ridiculous amount of negative comments, attacks and overall reaction from crazed fans who, as stupid as it sounds, haven't even seen the movie! One critic received so many attacks, even death threats, that his website crashed! It got so bad that the editor in chief of the website Rotten Tomatoes had to close all comments on the movie for a few days.
As we all know, the internet trolls are out to create chaos, rant and rave without any type of consequence, since most of the insults and death threats are made anonymously, so the rest of us have to be the bigger men and just ignore them; or try to at least. Perhaps "fanboys" have been taking the anti-establishment theme of the movie to heart (in the worst possible way I might add) and decide to bash on anyone who disagrees with their views, as idiotic as they may be since none of them have even seen the film.
In conclusion, I think we should stop trying to force our views on what we like or don't like and just focus on enjoying what you enjoy without worrying about what the rest of the world thinks. I honestly think that the world would be a better place if trolls stopped trying to ruin the medium for all of us who love comics, and have loved comics waaaay before they're beloved Christopher Nolan decided to turn Batman, the world's greatest detective, the Dark Knight who puts fear into the hearts of criminals all over Gotham City into "Dick Tracy with capes". I'll still watch the film, I'll go to the Midnight Premiere on Thursday and I'm sure I'll enjoy it because as diluted as it may be, it's still Batman, it's still the character I've loved for more than 25 years and it's still an awesome feeling to know that I can go to the movie theater and enjoy a movie based on those characters I hold so dear to my heart.
