Every mind has it's own set of rules (or lack there of) depending on many things, the way we were raised, the experiences we gain through life, by seeing what happens in the world around us or by turning a blind eye to it. Many times we must decide to take a stand in what we believe in, or simply ride the fence either because of the fear of what others may say or think of you. It's in moments like these where you have to decide: be yourself and not necessarily be "popular" or "right" in the mind's eye of others, or try to make everybody happy even if it means denying your own set of beliefs. In this unique world there is one (of a few) universal truths: you cannot make everybody happy all the time.
Everyone thinks differently and everybody feels diferently. But what would you rather be? Be your own unique self with your own ideals that form your own individual character, or be who everybody else thinks you should be? Agreeing for the sake of agreeing to look good in front of someone, or express your thoughts openly even though it's a conflicting point of view? Friends who are your true friends will accept your different points of views and who you are. And even though it may seem "easier" to just go with the flow and agree with everyone, or agree with someone just to be more "popular" or "hip", then what about your own identity?
There's an old saying that goes: "I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not". Who do you want to be? Stand your ground and in what you believe in, even if it won't make you the apple in everybody's eye, or
simply deny your own thoughts in hopes of everybody loving an idea of you, but not the real you as a human being?
