Hey, everyone! I wanted to do a quick blog to say thank you for all your support this past month. WOW, it's crazy that we're already one month into 2021! And for the the first time ever, I blogged for the ENTIRE month without missing a beat! This year has been the biggest start I've had since perhaps 2009/2010 before a strew of things happened that put a hamper in production, and if everything happens as planned, or at least as close as planned, it just might be my busiest year ever! Because aside from the usual Truthful Comics/Prospecto Arts projects, I of course have stuff written and planned for Silver Island Studio and the RichMattereals comic from the fashion startup RichMattereals. And on top of all that, I will also launch a RedBubble account and revive my Etsy Store, not to mention a LOT more content on my Patreon and YouTube, so this will be my busiest year yet, I am SO excited to present to you what I'm working on, from Warlord to writing Project: New with Manuel Carmona, I am aiming to entertain you all and give my absolute best to put out the best possible product out there that will be competitive against anything the mainstream can put out. Thank you all so much again for reading, my blogs will scale to 2 blogs a week February-December, so, catch you all next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro

Hey everyone, hope all is well! I just wanted to do another quick blog for a little something we have cooking. The Truthful Roundup Podcast, a podcast where at least at the end of the we'll talk all about Truthful Comics, and comic book news in general that might be interesting. Sometimes it'll be just me, or just Manuel, or as time permits it, both of us. The Truthful Comics Podcast was a blast to do a few years back, and we're super excited to be bringing it back! We love talking about our projects, interacting with anyone that wants to hang, and just talk about that things we love and are so passionate about, GEEK CULTURE! As with the previous podcast, we also hope to every now and the have other people collaborate and give their perspective about the comic book industry or just anything we happen to talk about at any given episode. We can't wait to be talking the breeze with you all again, it will be uploading at the TC site, YouTube, and we'll figure out in what other places to upload. Anyway, as always, thank you all for reading, catch you all next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro Hello people, hope you're all doing well! This short blog tonight will be about my podcast, The Serene Chaos Podcast. It will be returning in 2021 with a small twist. First of all, I'm aiming for a set schedule of 2 podcasts a month, and I'm going to be splitting the content of the podcasts. So far, it's been a very how to kind of blog, talking about how I make comics and webcomics. I will continue that (as well as give a newer, more updated episodes of the older podcasts) for one of the two blogs. The second blog during the month will deal more about comics, movies, video games, music, tv series, and novels that have inspired me to create. So it will be more of an editorial kind of blog. Aside from that, I am planning a Patreon Exclusive podcast and a Truthful Comics exclusive podcast, but I'm getting ahead of myself..... Podcasts have been something I truly enjoy, either listening to them or making them, so I hope you enjoy it when I start up again! Thank you as always for reading, catch you next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro Good evening! I hope you're all doing well and are staying safe. I wanted to write a quick blog about a comic I've been wanting to do a while. It's a fantasy comic that actually came to my mind in a dream. A couple years back I had a dream in a fantasy setting, but not just a fantasy setting. Along with the fantasy setting, there were undertones of both Western and steampunk. The dream was very vivid and I actually saw the begging and end of the story, with brief flashes of the in between. I haven't done a straight up fantasy story since high school when a friend and I did a fantasy story together, The Chronicles of Narnia, Warlands, The Gear Station, and wester movies like The Man with no Name trilogy and True Grit. Since I have the start and the end very clear in my mind, so my goal for 2021 is to flesh out the plot and do a first draft of the story. I also have a clear idea of the character designs as well, so I'm pretty excited to start fleshing this story out throughout the rest of the year and I'm looking to a late 2022 or mid 2023 release of this story. Thank you all so much for reading, catch you all next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro Good evening, everyone! Today I want to write a bit about a group of characters that I created that predate Warlord and actually Delta Force. Danger Zone. If you've read Warlord, you've seen most of the team (and readers for the most part really like them). While Delta Force is a more dark team book, inspired by things like Neon Genesis Evangelion, RahXephon, Argento Soma, Grant Morrison's run on Justice League, Chris Claremont X-Men runs, Danger Zone is a more lighter, more action oriented, straight up suepr hero team in the vein of Scott Lobdell X-Men, G-Force (Gatchaman). Actually, like Exorcist, I actually made a comic in notebooks before I settled on doing a long run (50 "issues" of Warlord plus special stories all done in notebooks). I was initially going to do a Danger Zone comic rather than Warlord, but, I felt like the chemistry between team leader Jon and Fred in Warlord, and the way the story was evolving, I ended up having Danger Zone become a part of the cast of Warlord, with that idea in the back of my mind to one day make a Danger Zone comic. My goal in 2021 for Danger Zone is to write a 5 part mini series to hopefully make for either late 2022 or mid 2022. This group of characters have a very special place in my heart and for the longest I've been dying to do a story of their own. Sometimes I think that when Warlord finally ends, I just might do an actual Danger Zone series. But I'm getting ahead of myself. In any case, thank you all for reading, catch you all next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro Hey, everyone! Welcome back to another blog. This time, I'm writing about something I haven't done, at least not on the internet, in a VERY long time. When I first started making my own website, and when I was starting to post art on forums, I posted art of my video game wrestling league. VHWA, the Video Hardcore Wrestling Association made it's debut in the year 2000 on the N64 with Acclaims WWF Warzone. I had gotten it on sale and at the time was getting into wrestling again after a few years that I had stopped watching (at least WWF and WCW, I was still very much watching Puerto Rican wrestling and was getting into ECW). There were a handful of colorful characters on there, including wrestler versions of Puerto Rican classic characters Turey, his wife Yaya, and his best friend Batu! My friends and I had a blast with it, and the a little game called No Mercy came out.....little did I know how that would change things for me! By that time, I was BIG into WWF and WCW again. And when No Mercy came out (I had not been a fan of wrestling as much when the classic WCW N64 games and Wrestlemania 2000 came out), my best friends and I all got it at the same time, which, of course, resulted in a inter-promotional war between our leagues. It was such a hype, that my friend and I recorded PROMOS acting as if we were the show announcers going over the card of the night. Unfortunately due to time the VHS of those promos got damaged. And it was on No Mercy a few months later, would see the birth of my online persona (illo on the left): Lance Danger. Lance Danger was a combination of my favorite wrestlers at the time: Chris Jericho, Lance Storm (hence the first name Lance), and a homage to Shawn Michales (who hadn't made his comeback at that point yet). He immediately became the most popular wrestler on my roster amongst my friends AND the most hated because he was so resilient, he could take a beating the whole match, either letting them play form the AI or just us controlling them, but at the end he would ALWAYS manage to come out with the win! And when I started making my own website, his legend grew even more because I would do a weekly blog telling of the characters and storylines. I would tape special shows on VHS and my friends and I would watch it. I would post images of the wrestlers and who held what championship. When I started to branch out more online and joining more forums and art sites like Deviant Art, Lance Danger would back then (and to this day) be my screen name. Back then he was getting such a following I actually had planned to do a mockumentary of Lance Danger in the style of WWF DVDs featuring the story behind the wrestler. But by then, many of my friends moved on to other things andI was starting to work more and more on Never Mind and Warlord as webcomics, that eventually there would be no more art or blogs related to the VHWA nor Lance Danger again. But....that doesn't mean the league didn't continue. Yes, it has spanned now, the N64, the Gamecube, PS2, Wii, PS3, BUT the VHWA has indeed continued for 20 years now. Many characters have come and gone, but the one constant has always been, of course, Lance Danger. My goal for 2021 is perhaps not doing a weekly show blog of it, but I will be once again doing artwork of the characters and who holds what belts. Sports and comics has always been a big thing in my life, and wrestling pretty much is both things in one, so it's SUPER EXCITING for me to be making art related to this again (I might even do sketches of actual wrestlers). I'm aiming at at least an illustration weekly of a different wrestler including wrestlers that have been "retired". Who knows? After seeing a handful of wrestling based webcomics, I might do a Lance Danger mini or something when I get other projects done, time will tell. In the meantime, at the bottom will the mock cover to the "DVD" of Lance Danger's story, thank you all for reading, catch you next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro Hey everyone! Good evening, welcome back to the TC Blogs! I just wanted to say hello and give a small printed edition announcement. The first (and perhaps only) season of Stupid, the Cat is getting the TC Edition treatment, with a small difference. Contrary to all the other older webcomics, I do actually have the majority of the original artwork, so it'll only be a small handful of strips that will be redone. I'm pretty stoked for this, because Stupid was actually the second character I ever created (after Weepaman y Weepito). This is of course, my love letter to cartoons and comics like Garfield and Heathcliff, it was a very fun single panel strip to do, unfortunately I don't see myself doing more seasons due to a heavy workload and time constraints, but if enough people read it more ad want more of this cat, I will definitely oblige and do some more. I am aiming for a summer 2021 release of physical and digital copies. Thank you all for reading, cat (lol) you all next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro Good evening everyone, hope you're all doing well! I just wanted to write a blog about something I'm SUPER excited about. Throughout the year I will be uploading at least 2 Patreon exclusive alternate universe spin-offs of Warlord: Jane & Maralyn: Best Frenemies Forever, and Great Scott! Let's start with Jane and Maralyn. Jane is one of the most endearing characters in Warlord, Maralyn is one of the most hated, and in continuity they really do not get along. In this alternate take of the characters, they....still don't get along. This story is a love letter to my comic book first love: Archie Comics. The influence is so strong, that to this day there are still some scenes in particular that readers go "whoa, this surprisingly feels like an Archie moment". So this out of continuity story focuses on Jane and Maralyn as rivals for Fred's affections but with no super hero plot, just a goofy, light hearted, but more adult Archie Style story in the veins of Betty & Veronica and Betty & Veronica Spectacular comics. My goal for this comic is to upload it once a week on the $1 tier on Patreon, and eventually publish it as a one shot. For the other story, that one is named Great Scott! and is another out of continuity story spinning-off from Warlord. It's essentially the main cast of Warlord when they were in high school, and they form a band together. This story is heavily influenced by anime like Beck, K-On, and the movie That Thing You Do. This one is a bit more dramatic than Jane & Maralyn: BFF, but also not as dark or with a super hero plot like Warlord. What's fun is exploring all these characters younger and without the super hero plot as well, so this will be a fun story to do. As with Jane & Maralyn: BFF, this will be a Patreon Exclusive upload that will replace Jane & Maralyn when it comes to an end, and will also be collected into a one-shot. I can't WAIT to start updating these stories because it's something different and to me refreshing to do. Thank you all so much for reading, to the right here is the original illustration that started the idea of an out of continuity story with Jane and Maralyn, and at the bottom the illustration that made me decide to eventually do this kind of story, catch you all next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro Good evening all! Hope you're all doing great. I just wanted to write a blog about a story that's just plain fun to me. Funnybone: Rage of the Lucky 13. I have 2 of the short stories out already on my Patreon, and the scripts are all done, I just need to keep adapting them into short story format. I will continue to post these on my Patreon for the $1 tier, and when I reach the end, I will collect it into one volume and sell them physically and digitally, making it available to my Patrons, of course. Funnybone of course is one of the most popular characters in Warlord and it serves both as a spinoff of Warlord and as a spiritual sequel to Clown: Rogue Assassin. What I love about this story is that so far it is the grittiest story I've written and is a throwback, love letter to chessy 80s action movies and The Street Fighter movie from the 70s with one of my favorite action stars, Sonny Chiba. Funnybone lost a lot in his life and his mind is not all together there, all he knows is how to move forward. With bloody revenge. These short stories are a departure from how I usually write since these are prose short stories rather than a comic book form with the art telling most of the story, which to me has been a very nice change of pace and good practice to do longer form prose. My goal for 2021 is to not only finish posting the shorts on Patreon and then selling a whole volume physical and digital, but I will be adapting it into a 6 chapter webcomic mini series, slated to be sold as a comic as well. Funnybone is a character that aside from Warlord, is my favorite to write. He is my Rurouni Kenshin if he embraced his man killer ways after Tomoe's death rather than be a peaceful wanderer in her honor. This is one of the most fun stories I've ever done and I can't wait to illustrate this later on, my target date for the adaptation should be either late 2022 or early 2023. In any event, thank you all for reading, catch you all next blog, stay safe, and if you want to check my Patreon, it's here, theres also A LOT of free content there! www.patreon.com/lancedanger -Alvaro PS- Check out the cover to chapter 3 below, coming out soon! Good evening, everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update on a script I wrote a first draft of a while back: From Single to Married. I mentioned it in a previous blog how this is a script I wrote for the Script Frenzy challenge. In a week. With a concussion. When I had started this challenge, which consisted on writing a script in 30 days, I had just recovered from an ankle injury, and started off with a bang. Then I was involved in a car accident where I was seriously injured and came out with a huge concussion, to the level initially a doctor told me I was never going to be the same again. So, I said to myself "it's not a matter of if, just a matter of when I get back to normal, and one of the things I wanted to do was finish this challenge. There was a week left in the challenge and I was far behind, and with my concussion, not only was I still with a huge headache, I was seeing double (I would be seeing double for three more months afterwards). But I was decided, I was a man possessed. I told myself if I couldn't push through with a script, then the doctor was right and I would just have to conform to a new reality. But I've never been the type to conform. For that week I barely slept, I typed, I cried in pain and frustration, and with only 5 minutes left to mid nite, I finished the 100 page script. It was one of my personal greatest moments in my life. Still in pain. Still seeing double. But now with the expectation that "hey, I did this in 1 week and a concussion, and a scar that had taken 13 stitches to close a wound that was still pulsating, then I can get through this and get back to normal". So this story has a special pace in my heart. They story is a bit unbalanced, but it was a first draft and the feedback I got was strong enough that I was considering adapting it from a movie script to either a prose book or a graphic novel. I'm leaning into doing a second draft and first doing it as a prose book and later on adapt it to a graphic novel. I do want to do that second draft at least in mid 2021, and chip away at it to maybe end of 2021. Depending on feedback I may take more or less time on it. This is a straight up romantic comedy and the first time I attempted at doing one. It's the story of these two coworker who happen to be close friends, and after a seemingly innocent prank she pulls on his friend, unknowingly their lives get turned upside down and nothing is the same for either of them. This is one story that has a spot in my heart and I am passionate about doing my all to not only putting this story out there, but it being one of my best works ever. As always, thank you all for reading, catch you all next blog, stay safe! -Alvaro |
