On Sunday, October 8th, 2023, the Lancaster Community Library hosted their first ever Lancaster Comic Con and Truthful Comics was in attendance! I have to be honest, whenever there's a new event like this one, especially if it's in a remote area there's a high probability that attendance will be low and sales will be few and far in between; I'm here to tell you this was NOT THE CASE for this Comic Con! We loved everything about this convention, from the organization to the events to the decorations to the contests; everything was well thought out and superbly executed. There were so many people in costumes and not just in costumes, actually engaging creators and buying stuff! There was a Super Mario Kart Tournament, Cosplay Contest, there were guest speakers, there were activities for the kids, there was food, the staff was attentive and so IN on the whole event; this was such a pleasant surprise and we can't wait for the next one! We'd like to give thanks to the entire Lancaster Community Library Staff, especially Elizabeth Sheldon for inviting us and putting this whole event together. Fantastic job!

Best. Weekend. Ever! The Mario Kart tournament was LIT 🔥 and the cosplay energy was insane. Bought my first indie comic here – so cool to meet actual artists! 10/10 would skip homework for this again.

As a parent, I loved how family-friendly this was! My kids did the superhero crafts while I chatted with creators. Finally found a Thor graphic novel my husband’s been hunting for years. Huge thanks to Ms. Sheldon’s team!

Felt SO welcomed here as a queer creator! Sold more stickers than at bigger cons, and the library staff even spotlighted local talent. That inclusive cosplay contest? Absolute genius. Already planning next year’s outfit!

Who knew our little library could pull off something this spectacular? I brought my vintage Superman #198 to show artists – ended up discussing Golden Age comics for an hour! Elizabeth, you’ve made this old fan feel 20 again.

EEEP! Got selfies with a REAL Mandalorian cosplayer AND the lady who draws ‘Galaxy Girls’!!! Mom let me spend all my allowance on pins and manga. When’s the next one? Asking for 12,347 friends.

Took my 7yo son – he’s now obsessed with the library’s comic section! The staff’s ‘Kids vs. Parents’ trivia had us laughing till we cried. Shoutout to the chef who made Thanos-shaped cookies.

Thought I’d just browse… left with a signed Spawn #1 and 3 indie horror variants! That retro gaming corner? Pure nostalgia. Library cons > overcrowded mega-events. More coffee stations next time though!

erfect study break! Got inspired by the indie zine tables, geeked out over feminist panel discussions, and YES to those anime-themed cupcakes! 🧁 Saw everyone from toddlers to grandparents – that’s real community magic.
