#ThanksIndie Why I'm Grateful For Indie Comics

It came to me a few days before November. I was reading a graphic novel collection of a webcomic that was self-published. I turned around and saw a handful of comics and novels that were self-published by friends and peers. I had just received the proofs for my latest offering, a reprint of my webcomic Never Mind, published for the first time since 2008 and with a new cover.
In an odd way, 2020 has been good to me career wise with my comics. People not only have been continuing to read my main webcomic, "Fred Peterson: The Mighty Warlord", but other webcomics I made were discovered and open to a new audience.
The printed edition of Warlord was actually inducted into the Virtual Exhibit of Puertorican Comics Creators, which introduced the comic to another new audience, which has produced some wonderful fanart.
My works for Silver Island Studio has been doing pretty good, as well as well as seeing my partner in crime's comic, Project: New Wave by Manuel Carmona, doing so well also, it just really made me think.
I was feeling really fortunate that I have such talented and brave colleagues that put themselves out there with their creations.
I felt really fortunate that I could share so many different corners of my mind and somehow get people to read along for the ride as well.

I was so thankful for indie comics, I hit up Manuel Carmona and asked him "in the spirit of Buy Indie Comics Day, why not do a month long Indie Comics themed event throughout November?" He was all in for it, and here we have it:
#ThanksIndie month is here! Throughout the month we'll be posting blogs, reviews, interviews, and artwork featuring various independent creators from all over the world, from all walks of life.
This is my small way of paying it forward, and hopefully you may find something you've never read before or maybe I'll find something I've never read before!
We'll be talking about what inspired us and the indie comics that moved us to create comics, so consider this like a smooth month long acoustic set in a nice coffee house, all in the safety of your home.
I am SUPER excited for all this, and I hope that excitement shows through, and most important of all, I hope this brings creatives together to both broaden and bring us closer. To inspire respect and healthy competition. Now is the best time to bring your own unique visions into the world, and me and my bottle of wine can't wait!
